This year’s Trooping the Colour event marked a family reunion for Princess Kate and other royals, but two family members were conspicuously absent. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan did not attend the ceremony in London. Trooping the Colour, an annual celebration of the reigning British monarch’s birthday, took place without their presence. Reports indicate that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not invited to this year’s festivities, and the same was true for last year’s event—the first Trooping the Colour held in honor of Harry’s father, King Charles III.
In 2022, the Sussexes attended Trooping the Colour during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. However, they maintained a low profile throughout their visit. Neither Harry nor Meghan participated in the military procession down the Mall or the traditional family appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson clarified that only senior royals actively engaged in official public duties on behalf of the queen received invitations for public appearances during the event.
Zara and Mike Tindall were also notably absent from this year’s Trooping the Colour, but they had a delightful reason.
Instead of attending the annual event, the couple enjoyed a rare date night at Pink’s concert in London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While dancing the night away, they shared their excitement on Instagram. Meanwhile, the King and Queen were joined by other royals, including Princess Kate, Prince William, and their children.
Zara and Mike, proud parents of three, typically don’t attend Trooping the Colour due to their non-senior working royal status, but they did participate in the 2022 event, coinciding with the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Today, they celebrate their youngest daughter Lena’s sixth birthday, known for her cheeky personality much like Prince Louis.
