Meghan Markle’s reaction to Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis is absolutely heartbreaking – “it has become so poisonous”

Meghan Markle was “shocked” to hear of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, but feels their rocky relationship has gone past the point of no return.

That’s at least according to the Daily Mirror, who cite royal expert Tom Quinn as detailing how the once hope-filled bond between Kate and Meghan has become “poisonous”.

Kate rightfully has the sympathies of the world currently, having confirmed late last month that she’s suffering from cancer. And while Meghan was said to have been “shocked” by the news of her sister-in-law’s diagnosis, there are a number of things preventing any sort of reunion between the two.

As per to royal expert Tom Quinn, a regular source of quotes concerning the royals for the Daily Mirror, Meghan remains unhappy with Kate as she feels that the latter should “have backed her” during her tumultuous time in the UK.

Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, abandoned their royal duties in favor of a move to the US, and have since opened up on the various challenges they faced as working royals.

The candid nature of their confessions – particularly those made in their Oprah Winfrey interview, during their Netflix documentary, and published in Harry’s memoir, Spare – have led to fractured relations with the rest of the Royal Family. Harry’s once ironclad bond with his brother, Prince William, is no more, whereas Meghan’s ties to her husband’s family lie in tatters.

LONDON, ENGLAND – MARCH 11: Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge stands with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex at Westminster Abbey for a Commonwealth day service on March 11, 2019 in London, England. Commonwealth Day has a special significance this year, as 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth, with old ties and new links enabling cooperation towards social, political and economic development which is both inclusive and sustainable. The Commonwealth represents a global network of 53 countries and almost 2.4 billion people, a third of the worlds population, of whom 60 percent are under 30 years old. Each year the Commonwealth adopts a theme upon which the Service is based. This years theme A Connected Commonwealth speaks of the practical value and global engagement made possible as a result of cooperation between the culturally diverse and widely dispersed family of nations, who work together in friendship and goodwill. The Commonwealths governments, institutions and people connect at many levels, including through parliaments and universities. They work together to protect the natural environment and the ocean which connects many Commonwealth nations, shore to shore. Cooperation on trade encourages inclusive economic empowerment for all people – particularly women, youth and marginalised communities. As per Tom Quinn: “Megan doesn’t feel guilty about Kate, because she feels that Kate should’ve been the one person in the Royal Family to back her against every difficulty. Apart from anything else, Meghan knew Kate was an outsider, so she just couldn’t understand why Kate always towed the Royal line rather than supporting her, Meghan, the other outsider.”

Last month royal fans the world over were left reeling after the second cancer diagnosis to hit the British monarchy this year. After much speculation and rumor, Kate Middleton bravely revealed to the public that she had been diagnosed with the disease after a planned abdominal procedure in January.

Needless to say, these are shaky times for the royals, but though Meghan Markle was supposedly “shocked” by Kate’s announcement, she doesn’t see any way for the pair to patch up their relationship.

“Kate’s cancer diagnosis has been a real shock for Meghan, but she can see no way to patch up the relationship simply because it has become so poisonous,” Tom Quinn told the Mirror.

“She also doesn’t want people saying that she is trying to make things up with Kate just because Kate is ill. Meghan still feels Kate was in the wrong and should apologize before they try to build bridges.”

There have been conflicting reports as to how in-the-loop Prince Harry and Meghan were kept as concerns Kate’s cancer battle. Certain reports have suggested they were entrusted with the information ahead of Kate’s declaration to the public, though other sources insist that the Sussexes found out along with the rest of the world when Kate released her video.

According to Tom Quinn, Harry now finds himself in the difficult position of wanting to support both his wife and his sister-in-law given their ongoing feud.

Quinn claimed: “He really misses that warm, uncomplicated relationship, and he is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was so close to. Losing Kate was Harry’s second great loss after losing his mother.”
