There are few celebrities who love animals as much as Kaley Cuoco. The Big Bang Theory star is an advocate for animals and has many beloved pets of her own, including dogs and horses.
Now, there is a new addition to the Cuoco family — a senior rescue dog!
Cuoco, 37, shared photos on her Instagram stories of herself and partner Tom Pelphrey at home with a senior Chihuahua.
The Emmy-nominated Flight Attendant star had been trying to help the Chihuahua, named Red, find a home. In a previous story, she wrote that Red was found “wandering the streets of LA after scary fireworks.”
Red was cared for by celebrity makeup artist Liz Rizo; she and Cuoco shared his story on social media trying to find him a home. Cuoco said she would take care of the first home package and any initial vet treatments needed.
But after months of trying to find Red a home, Cuoco indicated that she has now taken in the sweet rescue dog herself.
“Thank you @jenconf & @lizrizomakeup for trying to find this senior chi a home the last few months,” Cuoco wrote in a recent Instagram story, along with a photo of herself with Red. “I guess he found one LOL.”
Another photo shows the dog with her boyfriend Tom Pelphrey. It looks like the dog is really one of the family now.
The news comes after Cuoco recently said goodbye to two beloved pets in the past year. In September, she announced that her horse Bella had died, sharing a tribute to “the horse of a lifetime.”
And in May, the actress said goodbye to her beloved rescue dog Dump Truck. Dump Truck had a traumatic past before the actress took him in in 2020, a foster situation that turned permanent. In her tribute, Cuoco praised her dog for getting her through “some of the hardest moments I’ve had in my life.”
Cuoco is an advocate for animals of all kinds. She has used her fame as an actress to advocate for animal rights, speaking out against pet abandonment, Canadian seal hunting and horse abuse. She is a member of the Humane Society of the United States and promoted the dog rescue Paw Works.
She also owns many pets of her own, including several dogs and horses. “I’m not allowed to say how many I have, because I am afraid they will come knocking, saying that it’s an illegal amount,” she joked to Variety in 2021.
Cuoco also recently started her own line of eco-friendly pet products called Oh Norman!, named after “the beloved dog who changed my life.”
“A portion of every purchase goes directly to rescuing dogs just like Norman, because doing good by Norman means doing good by all,” Cuoco wrote on the company’s website.
