A 16-pound giant baby made headlines in 1983, but wait until you see it today 🙄

When a baby weighs between four and five kilograms at the time of birth, doctors refer to it as a large fetus. However, this does not take into account the size of the child. Large babies also exceed in size, which is up to 56 cm at the time of birth. Statistically, large children make up 5 to 10% of all pregnancies.

In 1983, when Patricia Clarke, 24 years old, became pregnant, she had more than a feeling that her unborn child would be large. She knew there were large families in her family, as she had already given birth to one herself. However, the size of the baby she was carrying was quite unexpected.

Kevin Robert Clark was born to Patricia and weighed more than 16 pounds – a huge baby. It was the largest baby ever born at Community Memorial Hospital and perhaps even in all of New Jersey at the time. His parents were relieved to see that Kevin was healthy, although he did not fit in a standard baby crib and his baby clothes were too small.

As you might expect, his stature was immediately apparent. His national fame rose rapidly after being featured on the shows “Saturday Night Live” and “Good Morning America,” among others. Unfortunately, Kevin wasn’t done being in the spotlight yet. According to the New York Post, he was already 5’7″ tall by the time he was 12 years old. By the time he entered college, he was already 6’1″ tall. He continued to grow after that. “Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t ask me how tall I am,” Kevin told the Post.
